Babel Protocol
About the Game
Twenty years ago, the Babel Research Institute conducted a secret seven-day experiment deep within the snowy mountains. Six participants were stripped of their names and identities, known only by assigned numbers. The experiment aimed to create a “common language” capable of eliminating misunderstanding and conflict.
When the experiment ended, the institute ceased operation. Only one unexplained statement remained in the official records:
“Experiment completed.”
You are tasked with entering the institute’s abandoned database and reconstructing what happened during those seven days. As more files are uncovered, contradictions begin to emerge—missing names, altered timestamps, and participants who disappeared one after another.
Every document is a clue. Every record may also be a lie.
Gameplay
Babel Protocol is a text-based detective game built around database exploration and fragmented storytelling.
Players must:
- Enter keywords and codes to search the archive
- Read experiment logs, transcripts, medical records, and personal documents
- Connect information scattered across different files
- Identify contradictions between testimonies and official records
- Reconstruct the timeline and uncover the truth behind the experiment
The game does not provide a direct route to the answer. Progress depends on observation, deduction, and choosing the right terms to investigate.
Made With
Babel Protocol was created with Twine using the SugarCube story format, with additional HTML, CSS, and JavaScript used to build its interactive database interface, search system, visual effects, and archive mechanics.
